Voting This Morning? No Prob.

So, that was anti-climactic. Took all of 10 minutes to vote, including drive time from and back to the house. No crowded parking lot, no line, no nothing except two campaign workers -- one from Hillary Clinton's camp, one from Barack Obama's -- shivering on the sidewalk, sharing a box of tissues. By 8:30 a.m., 80 of Dem voters had cast their lot at Leonides Cigarroa Elementary School at Walnut Hill Lane and Webb Chapel Road in Northwest Dallas. "Looks like everyone early voted," said the only other person there voting with me, a woman equally surprised by the low turnout this a.m. Looks like. Besides, the real fun starts tonight. --Robert Wilonsky

Taylor, you're on the right track. Krista is probably a Republican well aware that McCain has a chance against Hillary but not Obama. Rush Limbaugh is urging his listeners to vote Hillary for that reason. Also, I got a forwarded mass e-mail from a Republican friend urging me to vote for her because the longer the Democrat fight goes on, the more the two "socialists" (author's words) will damage each other. Besides, only Republicans are dumb enough to actually give a shit about those stupid flag pins.

Up here in the suburbs, the line for the Dems was out the door. The Republicans were relegated to announcing, just in case all of us in the long line couldn't read the signs, that Republicans voted on the other side of the room. Everyone gave him a blank stare and stayed in line. Another observation - Obama supporters were out in force at two locations (I went to the wrong one on accident) with signs, coffee and donuts. There wasn't a Clinton supporter, or sign, to be seen in either location.
Hey Krista, if you're going to slander a candidate, don't use the tired and ignorant right-wing one-liners...that is, unless you're a tired and ignorant right-winger whose hoping a Hillary will guarantee a Republican victory. You wouldn't do that...would YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh Carissa.....what sucks is that you are now no better than those stupid black people in Florida that the Republican radio show hosts said couldn't read a ballot and thus shouldn't be allowed to vote anyway. You poor thing.

You've been listening to that dumbass who is on WBAP right now.......YOU KNOW WHOOOOOOO. Who cares if Obama does or doesn't wear a flag on his person? Most Americans don't and besides that attitude is soooooooo '03. Obama DOES say the Pledge, he just doesn't put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem which isn't a requirement by the way. This is the type of shit Republicans pull, it doesn't belong with the Democrats.
I had a horrible electronic voting experience. I accidently submitted my Republican ballot on a Democrat machine at a Collin County polling place. I am not sure how the ballots are counted at the end of the day. Can anyone verify whether or not my misplaced e-ballot will be counted under the current process? After explaining my mistake to the poll workers, I was told by an election judge, "Sorry, your vote won't count." After a couple phone calls to his "higher-ups" the election judge said the situation isn't that bad, but I am still nervous about being disenfranchised.
Get out and vote for Hilary everyone. She loves our country and is not ashamed to wear the American Flag or say the Pledge of Allegiance like some other canidates. YOU know who!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry David, My bad. I had assumed since Dems and Repubs voted at the same place in my precinct, everyone did so. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. If you have seen and heard some of the things I have since moving to Dallas, you might understand my hostility towards people who put out misleading information about voting procedures.

Both Dems and Repubs were early voting at Northway Baptist, don't want to cause any more confusion but maybe rules are different on election day

In my precinct, 1118, the Republican's vote at: Northway Baptist Church at 3877 Walnut Hill Ln and Democrats vote with Mr. Wolinsky at: L G Cigarroa Elem School, 9990 Webb Chapel Rd. I was voter number 3 at Casa View Elementary, Wife was number 4. We heard the poll workers take the oath of office. We applauded at the end. Election days make me think of my client from Zimbabwe. She was a pro democracy activist, lost everything, moved here. She sat in my office on election day and shook her head in amazement at the orderly process. I'll never take this for granted again.
El Rey, respectfully, you should chill. Dems did not vote in the same locations as Repubs in my precinct. Four precincts were combined and voted in a middle school in Rowlett, while the Republicans held their primaries at various elementary schools. People who showed up at our location expecting to vote for a Republican were told to go elsewhere, which they gladly did, considering how long the lines were. You might want to reconsider who might be ignorant of the facts.
Yes El Ray, I'm trying to suppress voter turnout by recommending that you confirm the location. Exactly. What a fucking idiot. And wrong.
El Rey, maybe David ain't from these parts. I know my precinct had the Republicans on one side of a big room and the Dems on the other side. All was civil within, with nary a spitwad flying from one side to the other. My voting process was quick and painless, but getting coffee at the Starbucks had me feeling really sorry for a Hillary campaigner. I stopped to chat and he offered me my choice of buttons, which floored me. One read "African Americans for Hillary," and my evil side did want to grab one and wear it, even though I'm an Obama fan. I could just see someone snapping my picture with a cellphone camera and frantic blog entries going out about Hillary's shameless attempts to bring out the AA vote by having white folks pretend to be African Americans. Heh. I couldn't do that to the sweet guy, though, who, when I applauded him for sitting out in the cold and wind, said: "I'm just doing everything I can to help Hillary." Sorta made me want to give him a big ol' hug.
WHAT? David is very much ignorant of the facts and possibly trying to suppress voter turnout. He is probably out putting up those illegal signs that say "Democrats vote Wednesday"... You vote at your precinct voting location. No where else today. The only difference is Democrats get a ballot for Democrat candidates and Republicans get a ballot for Republican candidates.
Glad everyone's experience wasn't as bad as mine. My polling place had combined four precincts, and the election judge showed up an hour late. By the time I got there, the line was long and people were testy. If I had wanted to vote in the Republican primary, I could have voted at a nearly vacant elementary school closer to home. But I guess that's the price of voting in a contest that matters.
If you haven't voted yet, you may want to confirm your voting location before you go since the Dems and Republicans are voting at different locations.
