Pacman to Dallas -- Gobble, Y'all

Categories: Media, Sports
The Pacman cometh, if only to co-host a radio show.

Adam “Pacman” Jones is coming to Dallas. Not to the Cowboys -- not yet, anyway. But he will be on our radio airwaves, like, pretty pronto. Insider know-it-alls are telling me this morning that Jones will be in town tonight for dinner, and tomorrow he'll take a three-hour seat at ESPN 103.3 FM, as co-host of the 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Michael Irvin Show. Which means a couple things: Business here should be booming, and we’ll know tomorrow if Jones is serious about wanting to be traded to the Cowboys.

Short version: Jones is a thug with a rap sheet longer than, well, Irvin’s. The sixth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, Jones is currently suspended for his alleged role in a Las Vegas strip-club triple-shooting melee during NBA All-Star Weekend in 2007. Jones made it “rain,” and a club manager wound up paralyzed.

NFL Commish Roger Goodell seems in no hurry to reinstate Jones, hinting that the decision won’t be made before the start of training camps in July. The Cowboys need a cornerback/kick returner, especially a 24-year-old one that would cost them only a late first-round pick. And we know owner Jerry Jones isn’t exactly afraid of snakes (Terrell Owens, Tank Johnson, et al.). In that vein, Pacman as a Cowboy actually makes sense. As does his unofficial intro to Dallas occurring on the same station that employs Irvin, Nate Newton and, potentially, Greg Williams. --Richie Whitt
