No, Wait -- There's Greggo!

Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 04:05:27 PM

This lovely couple was spotted by the missus just moments ago at Destiny's Antiques, near the intersection of Forest and Marsh lanes -- ya know, where the old Park Forest Theater used to stand way, way back when. (Saw Young Doctors in Love and M*A*S*H on a double bill there in the early '80s whilst underagedly buzzed on strawberry Boone's Farm, but I digress.) The Mike Rhyner and Greg Williams bobbleheads are going for $10.50 each -- a friggin' bargain, y'ask me, though you'd really hate to break up the set, right? Not again. --Robert Wilonsky

Corby looks like a Keebler elf

otto says:

Gee whiz. Who cares? Why write about such nonsense, even on a blog? I expect it from Whitt, but you? Bobbleheads do not matter. Greggo does not matter. Radio about sports does not matter. In fact, sports do not matter. Use your brains and influence to get people reading books, listening to music, looking at art, and caring for each other, not wasting time on wholly artificial, for-profit diversionary conflicts. (And while you're at it, no religion too.)

Born Again Vaginally Sliced Christian says:

100% agree with Otto here.

No one gives a damn about Greggo any more.

Why even bother posting this nonsense?

Well, by the looks of other blogs around here, this place could use a makeover anyway.

B-O-R-I-N-G!!!

jb says:

The Hammer looks like he is about to pass out (again).

And Sports does matter in this town otherwise
we'd all be like the superficial movie star obsessed Californians or superficial politic star obsessed Northeasterners.

BSG says:

Those firt two comments were terrrrrrrrible.

Keep up the good work, Bob. Now I have to go read a book, listen to some music, look at art . . . . [insert "power down" drop].

ChrisU says:

damn, Otto, you don't have to go back too far to find RW writing about Timothy Crouse, Hermes Nye -this blog does its fair share reporting societal ills. did you contribute to any of those posts? no you waited for your moment to be the killjoy. bet you're a lot of fun at parties.

Well says:

Actually Destiny's Antiques is located behind Luby's........

Dannohead says:

I think Otto is just Mad that no one mentioned the bobble head of his mom in the far right of that excellent photo.
Oh, and is posted under Stuff NONSENSE Dude

For the record, I have never blogged about bobbleheads. Yet.

balls says:

otto - sports do matter...not only to us who have grown up playing and now enjoy watching and keeping track of it, but more importantly to kids. Don't underestimate the power and positive influence of team sports for kids. It teaches them how to communicate, have accountability, stick with a commitment, interact with others and teaches them teamwork...which is needed in school, work, marriage, etc. It's sad that sports have been semi-ruined by some parents and coaches with their "winning is all that matters" attitude. don't confuse me with those who want to award each team and player with a trophy (that is crap), but there is a place for sports in this world for kids, young adults, adults, and the older generation.
Team sports belong in our world.

As for Greggo....still missing his goofy points of view and hoping that he can land on his feet. I will always be a P1 and a hardline fan, but i am getting tired of Rhynes and Corby making fun of the Husky Hugger. Too bad it has ended up this way.

There is no Hardline without Greggo. Call it something else.

I'll take that set for a cool $20. When they get back together again, then you'll see the price skyrocket!

Greggo, don't listen to them. We care! We care!

Doug in DFW says:

Bob , How could you disappoint Otto like that?

I for one will be standing in the throng of tens/teens (?) of folks for baseball blogger CJ Wilson Bobblehead night!

I will then hop in the truck before the pitching starts, race back to my trailer near Lone Star Park & be the first to snap a picture of said doll and post the stunning addition to Rangers Bobblehead lore on the DFW Sports Dudes blog.

May 16th - Be there or don't care!

JC says:

Dood, they made fun all the time of the Husky Hugger for about 3 years before he even left.

Greggo says:

Suck it otto.

G. David says:

Poor Otto. Let's all just be glad we are not him. I'm going to check out the shop tomorrow and see if the dolls are still there. By the way, my memory of that theater is extremely vague, but I do remember my parents driving me there in 2nd grade to watch Where The Red Fern Grows. Probably the last movie that made me cry. Well, except for maybe Porky's 2. That one was also a tearjerker.

Bob, this post was terrrrrrrriiibbbllleeee!

But let's be honest, Greggo posts brings readers because even though it happened a couple months ago, it's still a hot topic.

All I hope is that the husky hugger likes his gig over at espn with his partner 'in crime', Nate Newton, and is able to take pot shots back at Mike the blue flame rhyner, Cobby the hissing snake davidson and Danny i'm better than any successful musician I don't know Balis.

I also wanted to wish you an early Yom Kippur Bob.

cactusflinthead says:

Otto, go have another latte. Did you get too many wedgies in middle school or did you just get cut from the soccer team?

How about this? I can go to the Modern, the Angelika AND listen to the little Ticket. My sports matters exactly as much as your art.

robert says:

Wow lighten up Otto...

Rhinosaur says:

To Otto and BVSAC: Lighten up, Francis. It's an MF'ing blog, not the Wall Street Journal.

Unticket's description of Danny: Danny i'm better than any successful musician I don't know Balis...is spot on. It seems to me that the Black Cloud hates everything. The other day when they were discussing music influences, he said he didn't have any. Huh? He said REM's new album will get good reviews because their record label has paid off reviewers. Huh? His cynicism should lead to more cries of "Less Danny."

Hardline's been treading water for a while. Not sure if they just don't know what to do, or if they're trying to work out a contract with one of their frequent "+1s" or if they actually think what they have going right now is a solution.

Matt Minyard says:

Dannohead says:
"I think Otto is just Mad that no one mentioned the bobble head of his mom in the far right of that excellent photo."

Otto's mom is Edna?

Brad says:

Blog comment repliers have all the answers. Our country would be so great if everyone had similar negative attitudes as the idiots who "show themselves" on these forums.

I hope Greggo is doing well.

...and I still listen to the Hardline.

Buzz Killington says:

enough of this rabble-rousing.
the internet is serious business.

Dallas Can't Academy says:

I did not find the bobblehead dolls yesterday. I did find a nice beret at this conservatory of superannuated melange so that Otto and I can now conclave to smoke Gitanes cigarettes, and canvass the works of Burroughs and Kerouac.

Danny is just fine, every time I see him out and about and have a word with him he always has a nice word to say. No one should have to put up with subpar music. Everything sucks.

mikedime says:

When was Rhyner called the Wolf? I thought it was the blue flame.

Born Again Vaginally Sliced Christian says:

Yes, it is a blog. And last time I checked, I was allowed to give AN OPINION to what was written.

Lighten up? Maybe some of you need a dose of your own medicine.

Just keep dreaming of Robert or Richie "autographing" a comment.

Laughable...

Rhinosaur says:

Lighten up.

boswell says:

I was looking for some algonquinian conversation. Can someone provide me some direction?

caknuck says:

Matt Minyard says:
Otto's mom is Edna?

"What? Oh, okay."

thewub says:

More Greggo

Less Otto
