Channel 11 Soon to Control All Local Blogs, With Both Content and Cred

Mon Mar 17, 2008 at 11:23:44 AM

So, do we want to carry KTVT-Channel 11's news, weather, sports and so forth on Unfair Park? Because, see, the CBS affiliate is offering to do all the heavy lifting -- it's one of only four nationally to do so, with more markets forthcoming in coming weeks. It's part of CBS's new "revenue-sharing ad network that targets social media Web sites and blogs on a local basis," and it'd entail adding one of these widgets to the blog. Best part, of course: There's "increased credibility by partnering with CBS 11 & TXA 21 Dallas/Fort Worth." And God knows we need the cred. --Robert Wilonsky

Roddy McDreher says:

I wouldn't worry about street cred when one of your star contributors is Bible Girl.

I say bring on CBS and CBN.

LaceyB says:

I can't wait until the day when I get a text message every time Robert writes a story urging me to stop working and check it out! If CBS needs to boost advertising to make this advance available, then so be it.

Emilio Velasquez, Jr. says:

Señor Wilonsky, I believe you do need the "cred", as you say it.

Our Dallas Morning News has now once again left you in its dust with the explosive and gripping "What have you changed your mind about?"

Unless you are prepared to raise the analytical stakes to even more vertiginous heights with a penetrating "What should you have had for lunch instead?", it may be best to accept your inevitable fate with CBS with grace and dignity. We will love you none the less.

knottygirl says:

Emilio, I think I love you.

When I read for the 5,000th time that Rod Dreher isn't Catholic anymore, I ached for the trees that had given their lives to become Sunday's DMN. At least toilet paper would have provided a noble service to humanity, you know?

Emilio Velasquez, Jr. says:

And then I read my sweet Gidget's charmingly confused lede paragraph here, Señor Wilonsky, and I must concede you may have breathing room yet.

It seems the thrall of the goldfinch can cloud the keenest of minds. Beware.

Assimilated says:

We've been buzzing here in the hive about your non-compliance with the greater order. Please do integrate yourself. It will mean an end to these artificial emails and posts, in favor of our natural neuro messaging. It will also mean that we will not have to question your service of the greater good. The mass consciousness is so much smoother without questions.

And Emilio, I really did just look up "vertiginous" - you did indeed spell it correctly, as you know.

Now back to the hive of social integration.

Emilio Velasquez, Jr. says:

Knottygirl, you are so sweet.

As for the Dickensnymous Señor Dreher, I imagine he can only be a strange and peripatetic Gothic character in a posthumously published work by a suicidal Louisiana author, and then someone nudges me, I start, and realize he is risen and walks among us.

Matty McMatterson says:

By all means, shill away. Thanks for "asking"
