The Ryan Express is Back in Arlington

Categories: Sports

After hemming and hawing last week about the chance to become the president of Your Texas Rangers, Nolan Ryan has accepted the gig, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram moments ago. Last week, the Hall of Famer met with Rangers officials to discuss the possibility of his replacing Jeff Cogen, who left to take the position with Tom Hicks' Dallas Stars after Jim Lites moved out, but said only, "There was some discussion during lunch about what they're looking for in the presidency, I think just to see what my interest level might be."

But now, there's a media conference scheduled for 3 p.m. to announce Ryan's leap from the Houston Astros' front office to the Rangers'. So, see, the Rangers have added pitching after all. And, of course, you can meet the new Rangers president on Saturday during Ticketstock at the Plano Centre; Ryan will sign autographs from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, only no "cotton or cloth number[s]" or "photos of Nolan & Ventura," please. --Robert Wilonsky
