Crime in Deep Ellum? Never Heard Of It.

The Deep Ellum Enrichment Project and the Deep Ellum Association are spreading the word today about a get-together tonight at Kettle Art -- not an art opening, really, so much as a meet-and-greet with Dallas police officers who'll discuss "safety and crime prevention issues" in the neighborhood. Lt. Alan Bull and Sgt. David Conley, both out of the Central Operations Division, will speak, and they'd love to take your questions. Shindig starts at 9 p.m., and I'd totally be there if I didn't have to go to the Go-Go's tonight -- which I mention only to point out Jack E. Jett's stellar interview with Belinda Carlisle, for whom he used to work ... as her personal assistant? Really? Awesome. --Robert Wilonsky
