Apparently, the Council Thinks She's the Right Foreman For the DART Job

Joyce Foreman, the council's pick for DART board chair?

Story I get from normally plausible sources is that former Dallas City Manager John Ware, the mayor's candidate to replace deposed and disgraced former Dallas Area Rapid Transit board chair Lynn Flint Shaw, is now "off the table." A growing cadre on the council would like to reappoint Joyce Foreman -- the same Joyce Foreman who Mayor Tom Leppert and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway got kicked off the board to make room for Shaw. But for Leppert, that's too much like admitting he was wrong. --Jim Schutze

If you want another laugh... check out one of Dallas' appointees to the DFW Airport Board: Sanmi Emmacliff Akinmulero. His resume, which is posted here: http://www.dfwairport.com/airport/board/akinmulero.htm is notable only for what appears to be a total lack of meaningful qualifications. Also, he appears never to have held a job of any sort in his life (at least he neglects to include any work history on his bio). At one point, his application was posted online at the City of Dallas website... it contained numerous spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, etc. (he filled it in by hand). Oh yeah, I did miss one big qualification: he donated $1,000 to Don Hill a couple of months before Hill nominated him for the position.
Uhhh...Calatrava is not Asian...try Spanish.

Excellent idea.... and those Asians know how to build a bridge, too. Maybe one day Hollywood will make a movie based on the transportation ups and downs of this city. Working titles that come to mind are: Bridge Over The Trinity Flooded Toll Road Full Metal River

I'm still trying to figure out my racial equation. It made perfect sense at the time. So what we want are black people who don't like white people who only like black people who like white people. So I think what we want are Asians. Everywhere.
Jim, your point is well taken but I'm tired of watching the revolving parade of poli-ticks within our city government. I have no idea how most of these people are appointed, but it's clear to me "ability to perform" is NOT a criteria. The criteria seems to be: 1.Color of skin. 2. Who do you know. 3. Whose ass have you kissed. 4. Have you perfected your reach-around skills, and so forth and so on. You can't swing a dead cat anywhere near our city government without hitting something that stinks. To make matters worse, there seems to be little or no accountability. These people just continue to fuck things up, then they gather at the end of the day and pat each other on the back. Go figure.

How can they put somebody on the DART board that talks bad about 10-11 of the people on city council? I think the job where you want the transportation expert is one down from CEO. At CEO you need a CEO expert. On the board you need people who are political and from the community, this being a public body and politics being the way we govern public entities in a democracy. So it's: 1) People who know the community on the board; 2) Somebody who knows how to manage a large public entity working for the board at CEO, and; 3) Transportation expert or experts working for the CEO. As for the quote from Foreman's blog: yeah, when does Dallas figure out that black people who are liked by white people but not by black people are trouble, as are white people who only like black people who kiss their asses?
With all due respect to Joyce Foreman, I don't understand the logic behind this move. I guess I just don't understand Dallas politics. It seems to me the city of Dallas would be best served with a Transportation expert at the helm of DART. Instead, everyone's excited about a woman with an A.A. in Liberal Arts from El Centro and a B.S. in Management from Paul Quinn College who happens to be a small business (Office Products, Inc.) owner. I've used the DART rail a few times to get to and from games at the AAC. Does this mean I'm qualified to chair the DART Board? WTF's wrong with this city?
How come she can call the black community Negroes, but if I do it I am a racist? Whay cant we all just be calle People? I guesss white people should start calling each other Honkeys. Good story, Honkey
