Fly the Gay-Friendly Skies

The Washington, D.C.-based Human Rights Campaign Foundation -- which bills itself as "the nation’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization" -- has released its list of the Best Places to Work 2008, and four local companies made the cut: American Airlines, GameStop, Brinker International and J.C. Penney.

For American Airlines, which got a perfect score on the HRCF's ranking, it's particularly good timing: The company, already a major player in marketing itself to the LGBT traveler, has launched a new ad campaign with a series of retro ads -- though, as Queerty notes, "What gay man wears Hawaiian shirts? Not to mention socks with loafers." In related news, Dirk Nowitzki has a wedding proposal to consider. --Robert Wilonsky
