You Betcha: Week 14
I knew it -- should’ve just been a Cowboys homer this year. If I’d have mindlessly picked Dallas in every game, I’d be 9-4 against the line. Or even 10-3, if I would’ve believed in Tony Romo’s offense and bet the “over” every game. Of course it could be worse. I could be the smug NFL “expert” over at Dallas’ Only Daily who in September picked Dallas’ opponent this Sunday -- the 5-8 Eagles -- to win the NFC East. “On paper,” wrote the fake know-it-all, “I don’t see how the Cowboys have closed the gap on the Eagles.” Spot on, Goose. Spot on.
In analyzing Cowboys-Eagles this Sunday I bring you the following tidbits:
Coach Wade Phillips actually did the “Soulja Boy” dance at Monday’s team Christmas party. In a move that makes more sense, owner Jerry Jones says he recently turned down an invite to be a contestant on Dancing With The Stars. “I wouldn’t even take the call,” Jones said. “I’m not interested in that.” Besides, how would he ever improve on this?
Cowboys’ season tickets may be unreasonably pricey, but there is now a waiting list to get raped.
Receiver Terry Glenn will likely be activated for next Saturday’s game at Carolina. Hear that New England? The Cowboys are adding a veteran speed receiver. Delicious.
Jason Witten just has to be your favorite player. Doesn’t he?
If you really love football, the best game at Texas Stadium this weekend will be Saturday night’s local high school Game of the Year: Euless Trinity vs. Plano.
Add it all up and the Cowboys will clobber the Eagles. Dallas, with Green Bay still breathing down its neck for home-field throughout the NFC Playoffs, needs to win. Philly, coming off a morale-crushing defeat to the Giants last week and now out of the post-season picture, needs to get the season over with. I smell a rout.
I started with a mythical bankroll of $1,000, courtesy of Bodog sports online gaming. First, because their site is easy to navigate. Second, because they’re based in Costa Rica and they’ve have had minimal success tracking me down in the past.
STARTING BANKROLL: $1,000
SEASON RECORD: 6-7
CURRENT BANKROLL: $950
THIS WEEK: Dallas Cowboys minus-10½ over Philadelphia Eagles for $500. --Richie Whitt
