The Leaked List from the Mitchell Report -- and Hooray for the Home Team!

OK, if it's good enough for USA Today, it's good enough for Unfair Park to link to blogger Will Bardwell's site, which contains the alleged names of the baseballers allegedly named in the steroid-juiced Mitchell Report due within the hour. WNBC-TV in NYC originally posted the list but removed it when Major League Baseball officials insisted the list contained "several errors." Still, the station is insisting that two separate "sources maintain the list given to WNBC.com is complete and accurate," though a third says the list may have come from an earlier draft of the report. We'll know soon enough.

So, there's the disclaimer. Here's what those looking to get the jump really wanna know: How many Texas Rangers, past and present, are on the alleged list? By my count there are 13, including a guy just signed who has some well-noted anger management issues. I am reminded this morning of this 2002 Sports Illustrated special report, which contained as its second paragraph:

The Texas Rangers were packing their gear after the final game of a road series last year when a player accidentally knocked over a small carry bag by his locker. Several vials of steroids spilled out and rolled on the clubhouse carpet. The player, hardly embarrassed or concerned, gave a slight chuckle and scooped them up. No one else in the room showed any surprise.

Update: At 1:06 p.m. George Mitchell said, "Each of the 30 clubs has had players" who juiced during their stints with those teams.
