Hollywood Henderson Will Sack a Neighborhood Activist, If He Has To

Categories: News

Down in Austin -- Central East Austin, to be specific -- they're wrestling with how to keep giant McMansions from over-running a neighborhood filled with small lots and smaller houses, which doesn't sound familiar at all. Yesterday the Austin American-Statesman profiled a neighborhood group trying to further tighten existing regulations that would disallow enormous homes on parcels smaller than 5,750 square feet.

Well, today comes word that chief among those against the aginners is none other than former Dallas Cowboys great Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson -- who, the paper reports, happens to own "six properties in the Central East Austin neighborhood planning area, including three undeveloped, 3,500-square-foot lots." He says, "I am a protector of the neighborhood, but this goes too far. … This goes way, way, way too far." (Speaking of: Super Bowl XIII?) Then he threatens a lawsuit, should the neighborhood group get its way. And he's got the money to do it too. --Robert Wilonsky
