For Half a Mil, the Hard Rock Cafe Can be Yours -- Temporarily

Courtesy Michael Davis, Dallas Progress-ive and Dallas City Plan Commissioner, comes word that the former Hard Rock Cafe's now for lease -- since that sale never went through. Earlier this year, the former McKinney Avenue Baptist Church, built in 1910, was the subject of a vicious fight over historic designation.

According to United Commercial Realty, the property ain't cheap: Rent'll run you $450,000 for the year, and you must take it for no fewer than 10 years. --Robert Wilonsky

Anonymous sounds like a Plano person..best that he remain unknown, because that would be really embarrassing.
That may be the single ugliest building in uptown, and there is absolutely nothing historic about it. It should have been torn down the day after the Hard Rock closed its' doors.

That is a shame, now was this the same tenant that couldn't use the property if it was given historic status? Perhaps this is the property that was unmarketable in it's current state? Or maybe the one that would block the views from La Tour even though it's on the other side of the street? Could it also be the one that was so connected to the KKK by a preacher based on a small bit of circumstantial evidence, yet we have evidence of him welcoming people to his church of all races. I get so confused.
For a half mil a year, it better kiss me with tongue and pony up some over the sweater action, at least.
