A video double feature this a.m., courtesy "eyeontv," who yesterday posted to the YouTubes these ancient KXAS-Channel 5 promos featuring Chip Moody and shockingly topless sports guy Jim Brinson, who really puts the "action" in Action News. Moody, during this period, was particularly hunky -- Dirty Harry, with only a dash of Ted Baxter. Doug Dunbar, bone up. --Robert Wilonsky

I can remember when Bobbie Wygant was hot!! In the late 50s and early 60s she was a dish!! But I'm 54 now and older than most. But I do vaguely remember her being in a bathing suit, nut not positive it was a bikini.
It's a good thing he's not in high school, or that might actually matter.

If I remember correctly, this was during a period when Channel 5 was dead last in the ratings behind WFAA and KDFW. They were so far behind they were willing to try anything. Wasn't Bill O'Reilly a weekend anchor on KXAS back then? And where is Scott Murray these days? Does anyone else remember when Verne Lundquist used to do "Bowling For Dollars"?

I was trying to be nice in making a reference to him as metrosexual. I didn't know if he was still around as a major sportscaster. Yes, gay men can rarely pull off the checking out a chick action, even while in the middle of an arm wrestle. I am pretty sure the director of this commericial went on to direct several episodes of "Love American Style".

I have a regressed memory of way-early 80's TV news promos featuring some pretty shriek-tastic high-altitude do's atop Clarice Tinsley.
Wow...Jim Brinson was way ahead of the curve with his metrosexuality. That is BY far the campiest video ever seen on this website.

These were clearly the inspiration for <I>Anchorman</I>. It was orginally "The Legend of Chip Moody," you know. Now, if I could just see Brian Fantana's and Brick Tamland's, that would be awesome. I'm Ron Burgundy?

wish they could find the Channel 5 promo from the mid 70's that featured Bobbie Wygant in her bikini. She was broadcasting from some exotic locale. This was a big deal because it was before the days of cable and t+a on every other station. Ms. Wygant filled my adolescent dreams.
