Because "The Joyful Sounds of Hanukkah" Just Doesn't Sound Right

Categories: Local Music

You may have forgotten that, 'bout two years ago, Jim Heath -- Rev. Horton Heat, course -- released a Christmas collection, We Three Kings. I forgot myself, till I noticed this morning that MP3 blog The Pop View posted to this "Rockabilly Christmas" item the Rev's version of "What Child Is This." Alas, it's no psychobilly freakout but nonetheless worth a virtual spin.

Me, I'm still looking for my copies of Electric Ornaments: An Idol Records Christmas Collection and 1995's Honkey-Tonk Christmas: Christmas in Deep Noellum comp. (Seriously, I think I loaned them both to you.) But speaking of the latter, the Old 97's are spinning "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" on their MySpace page. Man, Rhett loves Christmas. Oh, and here's an indispensable holiday bonus track, wearing its morning jacket. --Robert Wilonsky
