Doug Dunbar Is Now Channel 11's Hardest-Working Anchorman

Channel 11's new weatherman, Larry Mowry, likes turkey sandwiches, Poison, Oprah Winfrey and working out.

KTVT-Channel 11 just shipped out a mediawide missive in which it announces a few changes to its nightly-news line-up. Chief among the alterations: Doug Dunbar, already anchoring the station's 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, will, come January, anchor the 6 p.m. broadcast as well, riding shotgun with Karen Borta, for whom high-definition newscasts were clearly invented. Tracy Rowlett will host the 5 p.m. newscast and "will also expand his role in producing special reports for the station," according to the release. Says station president and general manager Steve Mauldin, “While Tracy’s original plan was to retire in July of next year, it is my hope that we can convince him to remain a member of the CBS 11 family well into the future.” Which would be nice.

Also, the station's getting a new weatherman in January: Larry Mowry, who you'll see on the 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. (Kristine Kahanek will stick around, doing the 5 and 6 p.m. broadcasts -- and, yeah, she's still the "Chief Meteorologist," so feel free to keep chiefing her.) Says the release, Mowry has been the morning-drive weatherman at WKMG-TV in Orlando, where "hot" and "sticky" were likely among his more fave phrases. Guy also has eclectic tastes in music and "favorite entertainment personalities." --Robert Wilonsky
