Two Media Releases For the Price of One Blog Entry

It was either a cool kid or Wentworth Miller -- so we went with a little something for the ladies.

Today at 11 a.m., medical researchers from the Perot Family Center for the Care of Brain and Nerve Injuries at Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center will announce that Dallas is just one of 12 cities in the country taking part in what's being called "a groundbreaking hypothermia trial." It's called, rather oddly, the "Cool Kids Trial," and researchers will work to prove that, yes, cooling a child "helps to prevent brain swelling and potentially improve their lives after a life-altering brain injury," as evidenced by the treatments given Buffalo Bills running back Kevin Everett after he was injured on September 9. His recovery's nothing short of miraculous.

So, that sounds terrific -- should be a full media turnout for this one. Only, notes the media release, there's one small issue to contend with for those driving to the press conference:

*FYI – filming of “Prison Break” may have Harry Hines shut down; please take I-35 and exit Motor St.*

Ah, yes. Do keep in mind that today's the big day the city warned us about last week:

In case you get calls from listeners, readers or viewers:

The City of Dallas has been advised that on Wednesday, October 3rd, the FOX TV Series “Prison Break” will be filming an elaborate scene to include 2 helicopters at 4639 Harry Hines (Old Detention Center). One of the two helicopters will be equipped with professional stuntmen, who will be firing prop guns with blank ammunition throughout the day.

It's so nice when media releases collide. --Robert Wilonsky
