Fort Worth Film Fest to Feature Bill Paxton, T-Bone Burnett, Robert Rodriguez ... and Fred Durst

Fred Durst, well-regarded director -- no, seriously

It's been, what, a week since the last area film festival? But fear not: OutTakes Dallas kicks off this weekend at the Magnolia Theater, ready to fulfill all your lesbian and gay film festival needs. Then, on November 7, the Lone Star International Film Festival kicks off in Fort Worth -- and, once more, Bill Paxton proves he's up for a free trip to his home state. After attending South by Southwest Film Festival and the AFI Dallas International Film Festival in March, the Fort Worth native will attend the LSIFF -- as both chair of the fest's advisory board and host of a retrospective of his movies. Alas, no Weird Science.

For an inaugural fest, the Lone Star has corralled plenty o' biggish names: Also attending will be Fort Worth native T Bone Burnett, who's chair of the fest's honorary board; Robert Rodriguez, who's getting the Lone Star Film Society’s Maverick Award and is scheduled to screen screen a new version of his 1994 made-for-cable short Roadracers; Keith Carradine; and producer Fred Roos, Francis Ford Coppola's long-time partner. And the fest is bringing in two dudes not known for their film fest ties: Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, schlepping along his very well-received directorial debut The Education of Charlie Banks; and Jackass Steve-O, bringing along Wee Man for a Jackass panel scheduled for November 10 at the Fort Worth Public Library. After-party at a strip club, no doubt. --Robert Wilonsky
