A-Rod? A-gain?

The Texas Rangers' former "cooler," once more trying to ruin somebody else's good day

We all know Alex Rodriguez -- is all his disingenuous glory -- tried to upstage the Boston Red Sox’s World Series championship by announcing, during the game, that he was opting out of his contract with the New York Yankees. The question is now, who’ll take this clown?

This homer-boppin’, soon-to-be MVP, always-chokin’, free-agent clown? Your Texas Rangers? Say it ain’t so. OK, it ain’t so. Sure Texas had $21 million drop in its lap because of A-Rod’s decision to nix the original 10-year, $252 million he signed with Tom Hicks in 2000. A couple of rumors out there have Rodriguez coming back to Texas, but don’t count it. If Kenny Rogers is a permanent never-Ranger for punching a cameraman, A-Rod certainly torched his bridge by assessing his final year in Texas as “me and 24 kids.” However, he does have special “ties” to Dallas. --Richie Whitt
