Take the Music and Run

Categories: Music

In April 1975, Steve Miller Band, Chicago and Santana played a three-night stint at the Beacon Theater in New York City -- and, yes, while that's very clearly what hell must sound like now, well, I'd be remiss in not at least sharing with you a link to a newly surfaced bootleg of the show. After all, Miller's as local as a dinosaur can get, his early music an amalgam of everything he listened to while growing up in Dallas in the 1950s (from WRR to Dick and Kiz Harp to his pop's patient, guy name of T-Bone Walker). And this is a pretty decent set, all you really need out of Miller: "Gangster of Love," "Take the Money and Run," "Fly Like an Eagle," "The Joker," a couple others. Should you choose to download the Chicago set, well, that is not my responsibility. --Robert Wilonsky
