Do Not Get on the Tollway This Weekend, Whatever You Do

Categories: News

Before you hop on the Dallas North Tollway this weekend, you really need to read this bulletin from the North Texas Tollway Authority. Actually, if you're even thinking you might have to take the tollway this weekend, print it out and tape it to your dashboard. Or something.

Because starting at midnight tomorrow night through 5 a.m. Monday, all southbound traffic will have to get off at Northwest Highway or before. (Reminds the NTTA, and do pay attention, "Closed southbound entrance ramps include: Lovers Lane, Mockingbird Lane, Lemmon Avenue, Northwest Highway, Walnut Hill Lane, Royal Lane and Forest Lane.") And all northbound traffic will be able to enter at Mockingbird Lane, but not from Stemmons Freeway, Harry Hines Boulevard or Wycliff Avenue. The reason:

"NTTA crews will be hanging new bridge beams for the Cedar Springs Road Bridge and switching tollway traffic to the new paving northbound from Maple Ave. to Wycliff Ave. The Cedar Springs Road Bridge will be closed during this time."
Oh, and it may be noisy. But the NTTA does "thank you for your patience and understanding." No, thank you. --Robert Wilonsky
