Aw, Hell -- Barry Switzer Takes His Damn Act to XM Satellite Radio

Categories: Media

At last, a reason to get XM Satellite Radio. Beginning one week from today, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Barry Switzer -- who, apparently, was some kind of college coach? -- will join XM Sports Nation This Morning as an analyst and predictor man every weekday from 5:30 to 7 a.m. local time. Says XM's press release this a.m.: "Switzer will join Rives in sizing up the week's biggest match-ups in college and professional football, and they will take phone calls from XM listeners across the United States."

As anyone who ever listened to Switzer -- the last Cowboys coach to win a playoff game, good God -- during his stint on KTCK-AM (1310, The Ticket) knows quite well, that's the promise of pure radio gold, especially given the freedom of satellite radio, where Switzer doesn't have to watch his cursin'. The show appears on XM Sports Nation, which is Channel 144. In related news, Dave Campo's currently broadcasting his own sports talk show on a CB somewhere in Ponte Vedra, Florida. --Robert Wilonsky
