TV Tré's a Sell-Out

Abacus' Tré Wilcox was more than a little happy at winning the first Elimination Challenge on this season's Top Chef.

Dang, dang, dang. I knew I should have acted quicker. But, turns out, tomorrow's cooking class at the Dallas Farmers Market is all sold out. Why, well, that's no surprise: From 11:30 a.m. till 1 p.m. Abacus' Tré Wilcox will present a course on "Seafood Abacus Style," for which there are some 95 confirmed reservations, say Farmers Market Friends reps, who proudly add that this 15-year-old series is "the longest-running series of cooking classes offered in North Texas."

The 95 guests is a little more than usual, which isn't a knock on Mickie Crockett (Trader Vic's) or David Holben (Del Frisco's), just proof that there are plenty of folks who watch Top Chef and want their kitchen training served up on a TV Tré. But we hear there's room left for the final course of the summer series: next Saturday's kobe-beef-cookin', 12-years-and-up class offered by Richard Chamberlain. No, not this one, but the man for whom Chamberlain's Steak & Chop House is named. Act now: Classes are $25 in advance, $30 at the door -- if there's room left, that is. --Robert Wilonsky
