In Local Celebrity Jewish News

Whilst perusing our latest copy of Jewish Women magazine, which we only take because we know so gosh darn many of 'em, we find on the cover the shayna punim of one Lisa Loeb -- with whom, ahem, I starred in The Pajama Game when she was a Hockadaisy way back in the mid-1980s. (Long story, but, no, I had the only non-singing role.) She's included in a roundup of other Jewish singers; turns out, she's still a bat mitzvah girl at heart and a regular-attender of Saturday-morning services:

“Interpretation of Torah is a skill I use when I’m writing and editing lyrics and trying to explain something in a poetic way, with imagery-oriented words,” she says. “That’s a tradition in Judaism, that kind of process,” she says.
And speaking of famous locals I knew in high school, the trailer for Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited is now making the rounds -- and, of course, it stars Owen Wilson, who went to Thomas Jefferson High School for, like, a week after he was told he was too awesome for St. Mark's. Alas, Owen did not co-write the movie with Anderson; those duties this time fell to Roman Coppola and Jason Schwartzman. Here 'tis:

As our Friend Chris Cantalini points out, the trailer features one of the greatest Kinks song of all time, which he's made available for downloading. The movie's due out in September, after debuting at the New York Film Festival. --Robert Wilonsky
