Northwest Dallas is So Bleu -- Le Cordon Bleu, That Is

Categories: Dish

As there was no new Top Chef last night, here instead is some actual food news. Over the weekend, the missus and I noticed a curious sign planted near the intersection of LBJ Freeway and Webb Chapel Road. It read, "Le Cordon Bleu." You don't say. How fancy. And in dear ol' Northwest Dallas, no less.

But, yes, if this help-wanted ad and this brief blurb on Le Cordon Bleu's U.S. Web site is any indication, the renowned school now has a Dallas outpost, after having already established the Texas Culinary Academy in Austin.

We called the school ("Have a great day at Le Cordon Bleu," said the woman who answered), and turns out its local corporate offices opened three weeks ago, but the official start of classes won't take place till October 1. "We're going through our registration and application phase now," says David Kelley, director of admissions, who actually directed us to the school's official Web site, where you can register for classes. "Dallas has been waiting for us to get here, and we're here." --Robert Wilonsky
