Dallas' Top Chefs Make Their Bravo Bow Tonight, So Eat Up

Like I said back when we broke the news in early May, thank God I now have a reason rather than just an excuse for watching Bravo's Top Chef, which returns tonight at 9 for a third season: This time around, two Dallasites are competing for the title. And they are, of course, Casey Thompson, exec chef at Lynae "Mrs. Dean" Fearing and Tracy "Mrs. Kent" Rathbun's Shinsei, and Tre Wilcox, Chef de Cuisine at Kent Rathbun's Abacus.

On the Top Chef Web site today, we learn a couple of things about both of them in the Q&A's. One, Wilcox does not list Kent Rathbun among the chefs he admires, instead ticking off Christopher Lee, Thomas Keller and Andrew Carmellini. (Way not to kiss the boss' ass.) His favorite comfort food is braised Kobe beef, short ribs with black truffle risotto (waitaminute), but if he's gotta eat fast food, he'll pick up a Ciabatta Burger at Jack in The Box. Bravo's PR people also think he's "sure to win over America with his beautiful plates and charming dimples."

As for Casey Thompson, she also leaves Rathbun off her list of chefs she admires, she says she'd like to cook a meal for Martha Stewart, wants a gig at Thomas Keller's French Laundry in Napa Valley, dines on Potbelly sandwiches when she needs fast food and will be wearing as a good-luck charm during the show "a necklace of the Virgin Mary and Jesus."
