The first sentence of the press release we just received got us very, very excited: "U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper and FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert E. Casey will hold a press conference TODAY, Tuesday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. to announce an indictment in a public corruption case." Could it be...? At long last, is there going to be some announcement made in the City Hall investigation that's been ongoing for the past two years? Turns out, not so much. Keep reading:
The indictment is a result of the combined investigative efforts of the FBI, Department of Education, IRS-Criminal Investigation and Department of Justice Antitrust Division. Other dignitaries attending the press conference: Patricia Van Gilder, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Department of Education - Office of Inspector General; Erick Martinez, Special Agent in Charge, IRS Criminal Investigation, Dallas; and Duncan Currie, Chief, Dallas Field Office, U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division
Turns out, it has to do with the DISD. Not the credit card scandal either. Something else. "Should be interesting," says a U.S. Attorney's Office spokesperson. Promises, promises... --Robert Wilonsky
Update: Turns out, the indictments involve former DISD associate superintendent for technology, Ruben Bohuchot -- you remember, dude with the boat? Took long enough.
