Famous People are Idiots, Most of the Time

A Famous Pro Athlete in a Local Topless Bar? Say It Ain't So!

Say this about the New York Post: That newspaper will suck every last drop out a juicy story. Like yesterday's "Stray-Rod" story, for instance, about the NY Yanks' third baseman and his "mystery blonde" frequenting Toronto nudie bars. Today it gets a hard-hitting follow-up in which it's revealed that Alex Rodriguez has also been spotted in at least one Dallas "high-end strip club" in recent weeks, as well as other not-spots, with the same lady or someone who looks like her. Guess Alan Peppard ain't on that phone tree.

Us, we really don't give much of a crap about A-Rod's personal life -- or Tony Romo's, for that matter. To be honest, we're only mentioning it this a.m. for two reasons: One, we love the front page of yesterday's Post; "best headline ever," proclaimed one journalism-biz best Friend, who loves her some BoSox. And two, as the Texas Rangers are still paying Rodriguez several mil for the next few years, we oughta get some enjoyment out of the guy. It's not like the last-place Rangers are providing any. --Robert Wilonsky

Rawlins in Wonderland says:

Picky, picky here. But, considering the combined income A-Rod gets between the Yankees and Rangers, he couldn't find a better looking blonde that this? I mean, in Dallas we have hotter women than this serving chicken wings in Euless.

Big Bob, love your work. Love the Observer. Love the blog. And a lot of what i love about it is that when it comes to celebrity hypocrite blowhards, political hypocrite blowhards, hollywood hypocrite blowhards, Mayoral hypocrite blowhards, and the like, ya'll pull no punches.
Therefore. ... I'm confused.
Since when is A-Rod being a hypocrite blowhard NOT news? The fact that he has Dallas connections, is a worldwide celeb, and is the worst kind of hypocrite blowhard would seem right up your alley.
I'm not saying you have to indict him for being a cheater and a strip-clubber (don't want to piss off your advertisers) but the suggestion that he has an "alternative lifestyle'' and a few headlines around the internet that subtlely use the word "swinger'' in their headline make it seem like there's quite a story here.
Since when is the Observer not interested in a major celeb who is a Dallas "swinger''? What does this celebrity hypocrite need to do for Schutze to get after his ass? Run for mayor?
Look to the right: Youv'e got a whole section devoted to "Famous People Are Idiots Most of the Time.'' And now you're saying you ARENT INTERESTED in A-Rod? Or, I assume, Lohan, the Wilson Bros., the gay constable, laura miller, Dale Hansen, T.O., and Jerry Jones? Big Bob, is this really your new policy?
If so, cancel my subscription! (not really. But still...)
