Who'll Be Our Next Mayor? Hell If We Know. But We'll Keep on Guessin', Anyway.

Categories: Politics
Jim Schutze looks just like this, more or less. That's what he keeps telling us.

I see there's a little discussion taking place about who people might wanna vote for in next month's mayoral election. (No votes for Jennifer Gale yet, shame.) But let's say you want -- you need -- to know more about the candidates vying to run Dallas (into the ground, heh). Well, today we're offering you two options: You can go, right this very moment, and read Matt Pulle's excellent cover story in this week's ish, and then you can head over to the Lakewood Branch of the Dallas Public Library tonight at 6 p.m. to hear our very own Jim Schutze talk about "Who'll Be Our Next Mayor? (As If I Know!)."

Schutze's shindig promises to be quite the shebang: It's $10 for Lakewood Library Friends, $15 for non-Friends (would that be...enemies?), and the 6 p.m. start time's for pre-chit-chat hors d'oeuvres, which Jim did not make. (Though he did bake some "brownies" for after, damned hippie.) Then the talk gets underway at 7 p.m., and it's expected to last as long as Dave Chappelle's stand-up stint at the Laugh Factory on Sunday; indeed, expect Schutze to use much the same material. I just love the fact that on Monday, when The Dallas Morning News previewed the discussion in a Metro section blurb, not once in four paragraphs did it mention the Dallas Observer. I totally blame Steve Blow. --Robert Wilonsky
