The Earth is Dying, But, Somehow, Sheryl Crow and Laurie David Will Fix It

Categories: News

If you forgot, and we know you did not, way back when we announced that Laurie "Wife of Larry" David and Sheryl Crow would kick off their 11-city bio-diesel-powered "Stop Global Warming College Tour" in Dallas on April 9. Turns out we were just a little off on the venue (thanks for the tip, Mayor Miller). The women will get their green on Monday at 8 p.m. at McFarlin Auditorium on the SMU campus; says here the event will include "remarks by David, a short performance by Crow, clips from An Inconvenient Truth, humorous clips from top comedians, and a dialogue with students." (Though you would probably be well advised to stay away from this subject with Sheryl Crow. Better stick to this. Or this.)

Probably the best thing is every student who shows will get one of those compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs -- you know, the ones that last 15,000 hours, or how long a Sheryl Crow song feels. (We kid.) Admission is free and open to the public, but it is first-come-first-served, and the doors will open an hour before the show. So go green and wind up black and blue, assuming there's a mad rush to see Crow sing a couple of songs before Al Gore's videotaped lecture. Then again, we would kill for a free lightbulb. --Rich Lopez
