Half Price, All Green

Categories: News

I already knew there were plenty of reasons to love Half Price Books: the cool archaeological displays at the Northwest Highway location, making eyes at various members of the HPB in-house hot nerd-boy coalition and the ability to get a book on Viking history at 10:30 p.m. on a Tuesday. Love, thy name is truly Priced in Half. I've also been getting my girl-goo on lately for a certain eco-friendly former VP and noticing more and more hybrid cars on the road, mainly because they look so freaking silly. (But it's for the environment! Think of the Prius the way you think of the Olsen twins: Ugly chic is still chic, right?)

Commerce converges with conservation (kinda) with HPB's new Earth-friendly Web site, BecomeGreen.info. If you can't end global warming, you might as well make a buck by advising folks that one of the best ways to save natural resources is to buy used products. Of course, they suggest plenty of other conservation methods, like adequately inflating your tires, which you can access by clicking the "Greener Tips" link over and over again for a new tip each time. Many of them are great and easy ideas for those of us who don't want to be sailing around space on a giant, globally warmed fireball anytime in the near future.

Go ahead and give BecomeGreen a click. It won't take long. Just the (greener) tip. Just for a minute. Just to see how it feels. --Andrea Grimes
