A "Significant Breach" at Neimans

Categories: News

A lot of people have worked for Neiman Marcus over the years, though, till today, we had no idea how many. Turns out, according to this story, that number's at 160,000, more or less. How do we know the exact number? Oh, turns out all of their personal info was on a single laptop computer lifted from a pension-benefits consulting firm hired by Neiman Marcus. And, right now, about 160,000 people, more or less, are wondering at this very moment whether their Social Security numbers, home addresses, birth dates and salaries have been rifled through. Says one expert about such things: "This is probably one of the most significant breaches of employee records by an American company.” What gave it away? --Robert Wilonsky
