Re: The Fight Over the Old Hard Rock Building

Categories: News

John McKee, one of the McKinney Avenue residents leading the charge to get the former Hard Rock Cafe building designated a city landmark, takes issue with at least one charge made by Hard Rock Cafe attorney Eric Moye in the story below. In the original piece, Moye, a former state district judge, says:

"I went to one of the neighborhood meetings, and the fear was someone would tear it down and put up a 20-story office tower. It freaked out folks living in La Tour, who said, 'I can't believe they will destroy this and build an edifice that will block our view of downtown.'"

To which McKee responds:

"I would like the quickly address this outright live of an ulterior motive to the residents of La Tour and the idea that we are opposing it because it would block our view of downtown. I have attached a photo taken just a few minutes ago by myself from my balcony, building a high-rise on that property would block nothing but our view of another high rise office building.

Would you please address this outright lie on the blog"?

Done. And McKee's photo is after the jump. --Robert Wilonsky
