Pull This

Our Friend Avi Adelman never asks for much -- well, other than we stop peeing in his front yard -- so we'll bow to his wishes and let you know about a contest taking place that will let you re-kindle the Arcadia Theatre sign on March 29. See, that's when the sign's moving into its new home at the MADI Museum at 3109 Cole Avenue. You remember the MADI, right -- the museum that recently severed its ties with Volf Roitman, the artist who turned the formerly drab law offices of Kilgore & Kilgore, PLLC and the Kilgore Law Center into a colorful Uptown distraction, till he had a falling out with its owner? Yeah, that place.

Anyway, this "Pull the Switch Contest" -- which, incidentally, is an oft-used euphamism around the Unfair Park household -- is open only to residents of the Lower Greenville neighborhood. Indeed, that's but one of the rules of this contest; I stopped reading when I got to the part about how "each entry will be assigned a unique identification number between 1 and the number representing the total number of entries." The whole affair benefits the Belmont Neighborhood Association, of course, and the drawing takes place March 23, with the winner to be announced two days later. And, hey, says Avi, "The winner can assign the prize to anyone else, including their own children or friends!" And what's the harm? Don't cost nothin' to enter. --Robert Wilonsky
