We always forget Greg Ostertag went to Duncanville. Then, we always forget Greg Ostertag. Teardrop.

In December, Cedar Hill and Southlake Carroll swept the high school football championships in the state's two largest classes. Last week Fort Worth Dunbar and Rockwall nabbed the girls' two biggest classes in basketball. And this past weekend, area teams pulled off another double-double as South Oak Cliff won the boys' 4A title and Duncanville the 5A championship. Which all adds up to two things: Damn, we're good. And slide over, Robert .

That's right -- Duncanville, which won state titles in '91 and '99, put the capper on an undefeated season and national Top 5 ranking. Not bad for a suburban school known more for its band, venue and sheer size (the campus' physical acreage is second-largest in America, and its 3,700 enrollment is five times the state's average.)

And long before there was Greg Ostertag, Brian Boddicker and latest Class 5A Tournament MVP Kevin Butler, there was a ridiculously short and future Unfair Park blogger semi-helping DHS to victories over Spud Webb's Wilmer-Hutchins, Ray Childress' Richardson Pearce and a district championship back in 1982 before losing in the second round of the playoffs. Soon after our class graduated, Duncanville hired this guy to coach, and the winning hasn't stopped. Unfortunately, my Class of '82 isn't remembered for laying any basketball groundwork, but more for being saddled with this all-time worst "class song" in the history of ever.
