NPR Loves DA Fond of DNA

Categories: News

That National Public Radio story about Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins, which we mentioned Wednesday evening, ran this morning on Morning Edition. You can hear it here. Already a couple of Friends of Unfair Park have e-mailed with some unhappy comments (they're not thrilled with the portrayal of Dallas as a city where "there were more than a few who nodded in quiet satisfaction" when John Kennedy was killed here), but Watkins comes off like a saint and a savior when it comes to his involvement with The Innocence Project's efforts to exonerate prisoners using DNA evidence. Then again, say reporter Wade Goodwyn, this is gonna turn out just fine for Watkins: His predecessors will look terrible when folks get freed; meanwhile, "the new Dallas District Attorney will gladly take the credit." --Robert Wilonsky
