I Want My DCTV!

Former county treasurer Lisa Hembry's now in charge of local cable access TV. Party on.

Pretty much every day since last Friday, The Harrell Group's David Dunnigan has been on my ass -- by which I mean, asking very nicely, actually -- to post something about the changes at Dallas Community Television, by which I mean, local cable access. Now, having been a DirecTV subscriber for 10 years, I haven't really kept up with local cable access, which I am sure is just great. (Seriously, I mean that. Except for that one time I went on a live call-in show and was repeatedly asked where my horns were.) So I didn't get all worked up about posting about the changes at DCTV (which, I think, is the new name).

Anyway, since David just sent another release about the just-named president and CEO of DCTV, and since her name's a familiar one, well, here's that item for which David's so patiently been waiting.

Today, DCTV named Lisa Hembry as its new boss. For the last four years, she's been the Dallas County Treasurer and before that was news director for KKDA-FM and public affairs director for KRLD-AM. She also has her own media production company and worked as marketing director for the Staubach Company.

Oh, and if you, like me, don't get local cable access, DCTV also wants you to know that you can watch all three of its channels live using the Windows Media Player. Good thing, because I have missed my Senior Moments with Gobie Johns, which has to be the best name for a TV show, well, ever. And then there's today's episode of Men Talk, featuring "men talking about how not to have sex." D'uh -- get married. Thanks. Have you tried the veal yet this morning? --Robert Wilonsky
