Dallas Children's Theater Goes to New Hampshire. Bad Grown-Up Things Happen.

Categories: News

On Friday, the Dallas Children's Theater went to Manchester, New Hampshire, to perform Midnight Cry: The Underground Railroad to Freedom at Saint Anselm College there. It was more than a little ironic, then, that one of the traveling party wound up without his freedom and planted behind bars after he was accused of beating his girlfriend, a member of the acclaimed local troupe, and another member of the company.

Says the New Hampshire Union Leader, at around 8:30 in the morning on Friday, officers in Bedford responded to a domestic disturbance at the Hampton Inn & Suites, and they arrested 34-year-old Terry Williams. He was popped with two counts of simple assault and one count of criminal threatening, which the paper says are all Class A misdemeanors. Williams isn't part of the DCT -- but his girlfriend is, and he accused her of cheating on him with another DCT performer. So after he punched his girlfriend in the face and threatened her, police allege, he went over to his alleged boyfriend's room, yanked him out of bed and punched him as well. Which is why Williams is being held on $15,000 bail at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections before being arraigned tomrrow.

The company's been touring Midnight Cry across the country to smaller, out-of-the-way towns such as Aurora, Illinois, and Melissa Cashion, the stage manager for the company, did tell the paper that "the show went beautifully" in New Hampshire, so there's that. --Robert Wilonsky
