Sneak Peek the Performing Arts Center. Only Two More Years To Go!

Categories: Arts
While we're no doubt going to love the Wyly Theare, we're still partial to Wile E. Coyote.

If you're ever incredibly bored -- and, let's face it, if you're here it ain't because you're living the James Bond lifestyle -- you can go here and check up on construction at the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, which will include the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre and Annette Strauss Artist Square. Or you can at least try: Every time I've logged on, it attempts to connect me to the cameras set up on the site, only to inform me I've been, like, disconnected. Sucks.

So let's try this instead: If you're just that anxious to get a sneak peek at the DCPA, which isn't scheduled to open till 2009, you'll only have to wait till February 2 and 3. That's when the DCPA will open its Preview Center on the mezzanine level of the Trammell Crow Center, 2001 Ross Street. The Preview Center, according to a release just receive at Unfair Park, "features detailed models of the new buildings now under construction in the Dallas Arts District, as well as architectural renderings and photographs." Sounds fascinating. To quote Groucho Marx, I'm fascinated -- right at the arm. Anyway, the center will be open to the public only during short bursts over the next few months, and they begin from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 2 and 3. So, start linin' up now. -- Robert Wilonsky
