Romo-mending

Categories: Sports
Tony Romo will run into the comforting arms of David Letterman next week. Because Leno sucks.

Rest easy Cowboys fans, your quarterback is not sitting alone in a dark room, mindlessly flicking the light switch off, on, off, on... In fact, Tony Romo is beginning his long, painful road to psychological recovery on the Colorado ski slopes. And next week, he'll begin showing his face and restoring his mental armor on national TV.

Last time we saw Romo he was frantically fumbling a snap to screw up a potential lead-taking field goal against the Seahawks, then so bravely yet sadly talking about it afterward that we kinda wanted to give him a big hug. I said, kinda. The goofy re-enactments and the gut-wrenching punch lines will continue, but next week the healing will commence.

A li'l Cowboys birdie told me over the weekend that Romo will, during the week of January 22-26, appear on the NFL Network, Fox Sports Net's Best Damn Sports Show and perhaps even The Late Show with David Letterman. And in the wake of his Seattle slip, I hear Romo got a "keep your head up" call from Roger Staubach. Bet he also got at least one stress-relieving massage from Carrie Underwood.

We'll all forgive, but if Romo goes on Letterman and takes snaps from Paul Shaffer, we'll never forget. --Richie Whitt
