People, People Who Read People

When she's not running the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Nancy Brinker's reading People magazine. How do we know this? Because she has a letter in the new issue (the one with Tyra Banks on the cover) -- specifically, a response to a story the magazine recently did on Betty Ford (or Jerry Ford or the Ford Taurus; it's not like we read People):

"As the world mourns the death of Gerald Ford, I'm reminded of Betty Ford's pioneering efforts at breast cancer awareness. Her personal and painful disclosure of her battle with the disease shattered the taboo of discussing it openly. She empowered survivors like me to dedicate our lives to ending breast cancer. It is time to honor the courage of Betty Ford and see this fight through so no one has to fear breast cancer again.

Nancy G. Brinker
Dallas, Texas"

In a related story, Tyra Banks is not fat. At all. --Robert Wilonsky
