Get High Everybody, Get High

The Nightcaps, pictured here during their 1960s heyday, influenced the Vaughans and the Top. And, yes, the word is still "Thunderbird."

So, enough with the young paying homage to the old. Seems like the old -- well, c'mon, you know what I mean -- can manage just fine on their own.

Several of Dallas' best (and best-known, if you're over, like, 60) bands from the 1960s will reunite on December 30 -- clear your calendars -- for the Second Annual Legends Concert. Among those performing: The Nightcaps, who influenced the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top (the Caps have the lawsuit to prove it); Kenny and the Kasuals (whose "Journey to Tyme" remains one of the earliest and greatest psychedelic-rock freak-outs ever recorded); The Novas; and, no kidding, Nitzinger. The shindig will take place at Poor David's Pub and is being put together by The Big D 60s Yahoo Group. The full schedule's after the jump, but there will also be a reunion of old rockers December 29 at the Stonleigh P, starting at 7 p.m. Tix for the next night's concert are a mere five bucks. Cheaper than a time machine. --Robert Wilonsky
