Sorta Winning
As of 12:46 p.m., beloved roots rock locals Sorta were reigning over such acts as Fred Everything, Probation Violation and little-D peeps Current Leaves with 179 votes. Where? What? Huh?
Well, as is true with much of anything these days, it all comes down to MySpace. Three MySpacers from Montreal decided that the "place for friends" and its users' profiles could offer the perfect opportunity for rising stars to get noticed, so they created the MySpace Profile Awards, and Sorta and Current Leaves are representin' the Deez in the category of Best Emerging Music Artist (a band or singer as yet sans exclusivity contract). Apparently, the top 10 of all the categories (others include Best Blog/Writer, Best Emerging Model and more) will be perused by scouts, agents, producers and the like. Good on ya with your crazy high votes and everything, Sorta, but we'd love to see impressive country rockers Current Leaves break past Tommy Hottpants and into the Top 10. --Merritt Martin
