DPD Not Jacking Around

Categories: News

A week ago today, WFAA-Channel 8's Brad Watson aired a piece in which he spoke to two women who had been the victims of attempted carjackings in Northwest Dallas. Fact is--both of the incidents, which involved possible "young males" following the women (and their young children), blocking their paths and pointing guns in their faces--took place not far from my house, one of them no more than a mile away. Needless to say, folks have been in a bit of a panic over this.

Well, this morning comes some sigh-of-relief news: Two juvenile suspects have been arrested in conjunction with the attempted carjackings, according to Dallas police officer Luis Grajeda of the department's gang unit. Since both suspects are juveniles, DPD can't release any other information, save for the fact both of the suspects live within two miles of the area, which falls under the North Central Operations Division. They're also being considered as possible suspects in other carjacking cases in North Dallas; Watson reported there have been 26 incidents in the city since August 1 alone. --Robert Wilonsky
