Mario Brothers, Meet Bill Buckner
Sometimes art imitates life, sometimes life imitates art, and sometimes a guy with no life creates art by imitating the bottom of the 10th inning from Game 6 of the 1986 World Series using the 1988 Nintendo Entertainment System game RBI Baseball. Yes, that's the inning where Boston Red Sox first baseman Bill Buckner let Mookie Wilson's routine grounder go between his legs, keeping both the New York Mets and the Curse of the Bambino alive. The original broadcast audio is synchronized with the prehistoric pixel action on the screen for nine pointless, brilliant minutes. The same game serves as the backdrop for the Michael Keaton movie Game 6, which is being released today to positive reviews, at least in our pages. As every trained journalist knows, two similar events equal a trend--in this case, one that's pleasantly nostalgic for everyone but Bill Buckner. --Rick Kennedy
