Food and Whine
Just got the May issue of Food & Wine, the one that touts the "376 hottest restaurants in the world" on the cover, and guess what? There ain't one in to be found in Dallas. According to the intro to the mag's so-called "Go List," which can go screw itself (actually, I don't care so much), F&W "went to the plugged-in correspondents in 50 cities around the world" to assemble this list, and apparently could find nary a recommendation in the biggest of Ds. (Denver, which is a much smaller D according to my visits there, did not merit a mention, either.) The list jumps from Boston and Chicago right to Honolulu and, yup, Houston, which garners eight entries among the 376--which means it accounts for almost two percent of the Go List, by my very shoddy math. I like to call it the Go Figure List, because I am that friggin' funny--and hungry, because damned if I can find a decent place to eat in this town. --Robert Wilonsky
