The Truthiness Is, He's Scary

Robert Greenwald's best known as the agit-doc filmmaker behind such fists-in-yer-face as Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism and Uncovered: The War on Iraq. But as we reported last week, Greenwald, through his Brave New Films production and distribution company, is also releasing Dallas filmmakers Mark Birnbaum and Jim Schermbeck's Tom DeLay doc The Big Buy in May. If you want a free copy of Birnbaum and Schermbeck's movie, Greenwald has one simple request: Help a brother out. Turns out he's been invited to go on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report Thursday and is scared shitless, according to an e-mail Greenwald's sending around:

"My first instinct was to run and hide. (Has anyone emerged from that show with their dignity intact? Could I even begin to imagine a more daunting adversary than Stephen Colbert?) But The Colbert Report is my 13-year-old son's favorite show, and I didn't want to seem cowardly in his eyes. Nor did I want to seem hypocritical by following in the footsteps of Billy O'Reilly, who's refused our many requests to debate us on the 'fair and balanced' lie of Fox News."

Greenwald just wants you to go here and offer some support and advice, which, if taken, will result in a free copy of The Big Buy and "an advance copy of our top secret, blow the lid off things film that is coming in the fall." --Robert Wilonsky
