Forest City, Without the Dead Trees

• Good post and links. Part of the problem in Dallas is the appearance that the officials in charge look only on the surface and take what the developer tells them at face value. I'm being nice. Let me put it this way: Nobody's doing research!!!! Good Grief! Half of these money-wasting projects could be avoided by someone doing a Google search! It's the same with the convention center everyone keeps pushing. The Brookings Institute came out with a report that says that convention centers are a waste of money and don't produce the desired results. But they'll never read it. When you sign up at city council to protest a vote on a particular item, they let you finish your statement (some of them fiddle with papers, look aimlessly into space), then they vote the way they were going to anyway.
