Richie, you spout this crap almost on a yearly basis. The game is not leaving Dallas after the contract is over. Both Athletic Directors have said the game makes more money for both schools at the Cotton Bowl. One price for all the seats which right now is $125, the price of a bowl game.

From 2009 by real reporters at the Dallas Morning News:

It's tempting to think that Texas and Oklahoma could make more money from their annual football game if it moved to Arlington's Cowboys Stadium, with its high-priced luxury seating, or alternated between Austin and Norman.

Not so, say the schools' athletic directors.

From a strictly revenue point of view, "it's pretty simple," said DeLoss Dodds at Texas. "We can make the most money at the Cotton Bowl."

"He's right," agreed Oklahoma's Joe Castiglione.

Texas and OU expect to split evenly about $10 million from today's game at the renovated Cotton Bowl stadium in Fair Park. Most of that comes from ticket sales, the rest from the city of Dallas, which contributes $850,000, and corporate sponsorships.

As for maximizing revenue, though, "it's just math," Dodds said.He estimated that tickets would have to be priced at $130 each in Arlington to equal the revenue generated at the Cotton Bowl this year, where tickets are $95 each. A game ticket also brings admission to the State Fair.

Just because JerryWorld is getting other games doesn't mean Texas and OU want to go there. The game is too important to the Fair and the City of Dallas. Dallas now pays each team 1 million dollars to play the game. Then they split the gate. You honestly think a forward thinking Mayor is going to let this game slip away. Jerry can want it all he wants. Unless he's willing to guarantee the schools a split of 15 million or more then the game goes nowhere.

Texas and OU season ticket holders pay a premium on top of their season ticket package to the respective alumni groups to get access to Texas OU tickets. If the game goes to JerryWorld, those people can stop their donations and spent the money on scalped tickets. The Longhorns Foundation is not going to want to lose money if the game moves. Unless I'm mistaken, any Personal Seat License holder gets first crack at the their seats or suites for any non-Cowboy event.

You say this crap every year. I can't wait till Texas OU sign an extension to keep the game in the Cotton Bowl past 2015.

How many NCAA football national championships have OU and Texas won combined as members of the Big 2 and little 10?

Answer: Zero. The NCAA doesn't award national championships to third party beauty contests like the BCS. You have to have a post season tournament to be an NCAA sanctioned national champion.

Here is another more hypothetical trivia question:

How many championships combined would OU and Texas have if they had participated in a post season tournament against the SEC, PAC 10, etc.

Answer:Most likely Zero as well.

I have seen the Trophy in Austin and it says BCS on it because it was handed out by a third party, not the NCAA.

OU and Texas go to BCS Bowls as a member of the Big 12 that they will never see as an independent or PAC 12 member. That's the fact and mentioning the also rans in all those years doesn't change that fact.

Your Tech example even underscores this more clearly. The only thing Tech can ever hope to do as a Big 12 member is knock somebody out of the championship; not put themselves in it.

Feel free to post the results of the Poulan Weedeater bowl in your next response as evidence of the overwhelming parity in the Big 12.

You wanted to ignore the fact that the big 12 consistantly put 2 teams in the BCS. The Pac 12 is down and they both would have great shots at going to a BCS game from that conference, they just might not do it as a 0 or 1 loss team.. I hate those 2 schools a ton, but I wont take away the fact that they are top notch teams and they dont cakewalk through the season. Ask OU about TCU in norman a few years back or BYU at jerrah world. In fact I would say the pac 12 was the conference with 2 teams and a bunch of also rans. and that wasnt their fault. That was how UT wanted the schedule set up. They wanted unbalanced schedule so they would have to play the likes of Nebraska every year. KU played the schedule given and did what they had to do, and yeah, that Orange Bowl trophy looks real nice in the trophy case next to those CBB national championship trophies. And I do beleive my t shirt and hat still say orange bowl champs on it too, and their is no asterick for schedule on either one as well.

They had an incredibly easy schedule to get to the Orange Bowl, and even lost to Mizzou in their last game. And then they beat a very weak ACC team in Va Tech. Yes, they did win the Orange Bowl, but it just was not that impressive. Mizzou should have gone over Kansas anyway.

Best thing about Kansas that year was the t-shirts their fans wore that said " Our coach can eat your coach." Hillarious.

The Texas OU game was the beauty contest that decided which big 12 team played in the BCS. It will never be the same if they both play a semi-respectable schedule.

We are about to see how well thrashing Iowa State and Baylor every year has prepared them for the real world.

UT plays BYU and UCLA in non-conference. OU plays FSU. Both teams are conscious of losing standing to SEC teams based on "strength of schedule", so both teams have beefed up their schedules in the past few years.

Plus, 5 Big 12 teams are currently Top 25 ranked.

It's a nice "talking point" to toss out about "weak schedules" though, but it works better to actually look at a schedule occasionally.
