Cowboys-49ers: Look Out Below!

Okay, so the Cowboys were better than I expected in last week's NFL opener.

But don't be fooled, the San Francisco 49ers weren't as good as it seems.

Seems strange to be sniffing around an Under point-total play in a game between teams that scored a combined 57 in Week 1, but hear me out. When the 49ers and Cowboys meet Sunday afternoon on the slow sod of Candlestick Park, it'll be more defensive than most expect.

Why?

Look at the 49ers against the Seahawks last week. It's not often that teams win a game, much less amass 33 points with these paltry stats:

124 passing yards. 2.7 yards per rush. 1-12 on third downs. 9 penalties for 102 yards. Four trips inside the 15 that result in four field goals.

Yep, while the Cowboys were busy giving a game away in New York, the 49ers were handed a gift against Seattle.

To get their 33 points, the Niners needed three plus-territory Seattle turnovers (which resulted in David Akers field goals) and two late kick-return touchdowns by Ted Ginn. Thirty three looks impressive, but once upon a time a wise guy grumbled something about smoke and mirrors. Listen to him.

San Francisco has weapons in Frank Gore, Vernon Davis and Michael Crabtree (one catch for four yards last week), but more often than not it'll struggle to get to 21 points this season. As for the Cowboys, I expect a more careful, conservative Tony Romo this week. Fewer big plays? Maybe. Fewer goal-line gaffes? Definitely.

If the Cowboys can keep Ginn out of the end zone I think they'll win this game. I'm even more sure that these offenses -- without assists -- will struggle to produce five touchdowns and two field goals.

I started with a mythical bankroll of $10,000, courtesy of bodog. First of all, because their site is easy to navigate. Second, because they're based in Costa Rica and have had minimal success tracking me down in the past.

I'll analyze games/wagers of local interest each weekend and make a wager every Thursday. With any luck, by Christmas it'll be iPads and iCandy for everyone.

STARTING BANKROLL: $10,000

CURRENT BANKROLL: $9,400

SEASON RECORD: 1-1

LAST WEEK: 0-1 (-$1,100)

THIS WEEK: Cowboys-49ers Under 43 for $750

The DAL-SF game is not what it used to be.  I remember when the Cowboys-Niners game was the highlight of the season.  Now its one mismanaged team playing an underachieving one.  That being said, the 'Boys should win this one easily.

now if you used multiple books, you could get Atlanta at +3(-120) along with the Eagles at PK(-125), wait for the public money to move on the Eagles for a bigger gap, and grab some Atl at 4.5........the middle.

Hey RW can you just make up some scores and bets for the rest of the season and just shove them all into one big post?? I promise I'll read I really will.

Take Bama minus the 47 against UNT as you witness what a first class prick Nick Saban is when he leaves his starters in until 2 minutes left in the game.

The San Francisco 49ers have outscored the Dallas Cowboys with a total of 366-304 points at Candlestick Park in the past 50 seasons.

I know the niners have not been a good team in a long time, but it's better then being over rated like the Dallas Cowboys. Every year, they are picked to go all the way and they flop. Sorry but Tony Romo is a horrible qb, maybe not as bad as alex smith but he's not championship material. Don't be suprised if the niners come out swinging, we haven't showed all our cards, yet.

This is worse than us posting SFBL and SFFL standings and games of the week. I might care if you were using real money, but who cares if it's fake? I'm sure bodog is getting traffic from you, eh?

If I was fake betting, I'd take the over. I think Dallas puts up 28 on them, big bounceback game.

So, with this, and when you start your QB rankings (please don't), that'll be two throw away posts a week?

Yes, Windows 8 will be awesome.......looking forward to the possibilities!  But sadly, most folks here are more interested in fapping and watching reruns of last weeks Cowboys game.

Hey jackass, keep your professional sports (we quit once we get 17 ahead)  out of the college game. UNT will get a nice check to fund the remainder of their atheletic department's fiscal year and Alabama will get to use the green uniformed bodies for practice. Theres only so many snaps each year and in college youd better use evey one of them to get better because if you loose one game your out

The Niners haven't played at Candlestick for 50 seasons.  They played at Kezar Stadium until the early- 70's.

Yeah, well, you've got to remember that every year it's JJ & the local yokels that are picking them to "go all the way", so you might want to get a little more discriminating about who you get your "expert NFL analysis" from.

The QB rankings are the only posts I completely skip every time they're posted.  There's just NOTHING interesting about it at all and it was a terrible idea.

Oh crud, I hate RW's quarterback ratings more THAN ANYTHING he does.  We all know who the top tier QB's are; who the bottom tier QB's are-complete mail in seg.

It'll look something like this (so you are not surprised!):1) Brady2) Vick3) Brees4) Rivers5) Newton6) Sanchez7) Ben

........OK, this is boring, mundane and makes we want to stab my temple with a shank made out of hardened toothpaste.

ps-The board may be just as bad; or Gavin's gadgets......elf's elite 8 sucks pretty bad.  Also, Choppy acting cool sucks pretty bad; and THEN, you have the Shah and his riveting mid western, po dunk, blazing hot sports opinions.  Send him back to Ohama, or Fort Smith-they love him there.  He's like Pat Summerall in Toledo.

I assume those activities will NOT be being performed simultaneously.

On the other hand (ha ha), it might make watching the Cowboys bearable.
