• Don't look now, but my scrappy little squad has climbed to "kinda-sorta low-end of mediocre" from "god-awful." I now fully expect to have jinxed my team into a freefall back to the bottom of the heap.

Here's Crockett's End: - Truly sad last night at the Ballpark. - Just two days left until RW is back, which means two days until the NFL lockout is over according to his claim. - With regard to the hot/cold debate: Give me cold. I spent about 3 years in Chicago and absolutely loved the winters, though one morning it was -18 and that's no fun. Perfection for me is sunny and about 45 degrees. - Hot: Most women on channel 5 news team. - Not: Anything that RW pulls out of a bar, probably. - Finally gave that morning show on the Fan a listen. No good. No good at all. Luckily I dropped some dough on used cd's at Good Records last weekend. I like Norm but only in small, brief spurts. - Is it written in the rule book that a runner on base has to tag up in between pitches if the ball wasn't put in play? You always see them do it.

Redshoes are as hot as the weather, with no signs of either relenting in the near future. This along with the 15.5m Leonys Martin deal indicate that the Rangers are willing to gamble big on these kids hitting near their upside potential. Chris Davis has 3 outfield errors in 26 chances at Round Rock so far. It remains to be seen if he will be on display in Arlington again prior to the July 31 trade deadline. AL West action firing up tonight with OAK vs TEX and then SEA vs LAA as the late free game on MLB.TV. • Don’t know if anyone saw or read the news about the bear attack in Yellowstone yesterday. I consider myself to be somewhat of a camper, not in this hot ass shit we got going now but you know what I mean. Unless they're in the meetings, they're either clamoring for attention or are really wishing they have story material soon. Until there's white smoke, I'm assuming they'll eff up the season. Plus I kind of hope preseason in all its worthlessness is wiped out anyway. I don't see why anyone should be upset about Webb. There's no salary cap in baseball, it's not our money, and it still was a worthwhile longshot to take. Just didn't pan out. Webb didn't keep them from making some other move. This past week has given us more proof that football players are morons. Roy isn't bright enough to work Whataburger drive-through and Romo's voluntarily tolerated both Jessica in the past and Bobby Carpenter still. Smart guys don't spend time with dumbasses. • Suggestions/opinions on whom the Rangers will trade at the deadline and whom will they get back anyone? I look for Davis, Borbon, and maybe Torrealba to be sent packing. I would love to see Heath Bell in a Rangers uni. I am also kind of interested on how Wandy Rodriguez would be with the Rangers. Me thinks the Astros will be asking quite a bit for him.

• Scattershooting for Tuesday: --Already tired of forced football talk that glosses over the fact they're still in a lockout. A certain third-place radio station that really wants the inbred mouthbreather demo is most guilty, but it's being found on other radio, the interwebs, and TV. --Norm this week is making me miss the Musers very much. I like Norm, but he's perfect for his 2 hour late morning slot and we should've gotten a week of Rich and Donnie or Rhads or someone else. Norm is past his prime, like Greggo or Vlad or the DMN. --I want a shock collar put on Lewin so he gets blasted every time he makes a reference over 10 years old. I've heard multiple Seinfeld, All in the Family, MASH, and Welcome Back, Kotter over the past week. Playing the same tired Family Guy drops doesn't make up for it. --Rangers broadcasts are now perfectly acceptable. Even the team commercials are somewhat better. • I agree.  He's a nice guy in person.  When he was on the air saying people here wouldn't meet him in person, he said that we wouldn't talk to him in person like we do here. I have to agree with him that some of the people who deliver constant, unrelenting, personal attacks wouldn't dare do that in person.  But when he comes up with his weird ideas, I wouldn't have a problem telling him that I thought he was way off the mark. Even though he won't admit to it, I also do think Richie sometimes sacrifices intellectual honesty for sensationalism.
